Whilst my E9 started first go and drove fine, my drivers electric window has died. Suspected cause is due to lack of use over past 4 months, or somehow my trickle charger effected the electrics.

I need to take the door trim off to check contacts/grease etc (the window went down but wont go up, power is still getting to window as I hear a faint clicking noise when I activate. Maybe it dropped down too far?).

I don't want to damage my trim and need advice particularly about how this winder comes off, as I guess there is a screw inside? However I can't find any way to remove the center silver circle. Seems glued in? (PS have done a search on the forum but didn't answer this winder removal question, nor does my manual explain. So are there any threads detailing how to remove this entire front door trim?)

Do not resort to hacksaw or prybar.

This image is similar to E9 knob. Note hole at 6 o'clock position. Take "L" shaped allen wrench or similar probe and push from backside through hole forcing cover from perch.

You dont need to remove this knob (or the ash tray) to take the door panel off, it just slides underneath it after you've removed the 3 armrest screws, the upper handle screw (under the chrome plastic cover, also screwed in), the inside door latch handle, and unsnapping the panel from the door working from the bottom up.

Another quick related question.

Does this chrome cover just get prised off with a blade or small screwdriver slipped under one of the edges?

No there is a phillips screw accessed from the underside, then you can take a snaller screwdriver or thin object and press it out from below through the hole
