Some of you on Facebook have seen a post that 2240001 has surfaced in Vancouver where it was originally sold. Even though build dates are not sequential by VIN, this one was built two months before production started in July. It was built May 17, 1971 leading me to believe it was used for EPA testing. How cool is that? We have asked the owner to join us here so @dang be prepared for his request, his name is Mitchell Baker. I am biased towards our Forum of course but I see a majority of answers on Facebook to be dead wrong.

I saw it too. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw 0001. Mine is 118. August 30,1971. Thanks Chris for the date. How do you get those and so quickly?
 
I keep a spreadsheet and add VINs when I see them. The Archive will no longer honor my requests for build dates so most of these were obtained long ago. I wanted to see if there was any correlation to vin, build date and color. There is not.
