My car came with a "Grant" steering wheel (looks like a Nardi knock off??) that was modified with a brass ring inside the hub for the horn connection.

I have a steering wheel for a E10 2002, which I think I have seen on many E9s ... maybe it was another steering wheel??

the back of the E10 steering wheel has a push pin, not a brass ring to make contact with the horn contact on the steering wheel spindle.

Has anyone made this modification? Thinking I need to remove the push-pin and install a brass ring on the back of the steering wheel ... ?

Any thoughts or suggestions??

If center hub pad is removable it is 2002, if not e21, both used the pin in the wheel. 74 e9 wheel is similar but with brass ring, it might be larger, I can measure mine if needed.

Sorry - my mistake, I meant E10 not E21 (getting my BMWs mixed up!) - just corrected that previous post.

So, it seems you are suggesting I need to modify the wheel to remove the push-pin and install a brash ring.

the diameter of what? The brass ring I have, or the steering wheel?

Chris - the 2002 E10 wheel I have is 15.875 inches or 400 mm.

I'm not sure E10 or E21, but for sure E3/E9 steering wheel was factory covered with leather.

I would expect E10 might be plastic/rubber... possibly.

The 73 and earlier wood and plastic ‘bus’ wheels were 42cm, in 74 they switched to the padded wheel shown but maybe it was also 42cm.
