I am looking at a 1985 635csi
If in good condition, and we know where to look. how much would a 190k go for?

leaving in 30 minutes for look see. Shop foreman I know and he likes the car but hasn't seen it in 3 years
 
Having owned 3 e24s I would say $5-$10K for non M variant, but with e24 M6 prices starting to rise, maybe the stock 24 will rise too - beautiful Paul Braque design.

While not as rust prone as the e9s, there is some genetic linkage and rust repair will break any budget. Much less likely to have hidden rust than the e9. Wheel arches common.
 
In Seattle they range from $3,500 to $6,500. Finding one with nice factory paint is the tricky part.

We typically have several in the $16k - $20K (non M) range, but I'm not counting those.
 
A 3 owner, true Nevada car. absolutely no rust. Straight and true. Paint doesn't last in the desert.
Good respray. Anthracite in color. One nose bump of <$100 damage
Some minor work needed, considering I own a e9. Diving board bumpers f&r.
And I am friend of the the shop that maintained it.
Shifting is like rowing a boat, lots of reach.

$3K-6k is a good range, maybe under $2k for a beater. Euro E24s are up in price right under the M cars.Some of the euro E24s are hitting $13K, but this is for absolutely pristine cars. Make sure everything is there. Mechanical parts are easy to get, but the hard to find parts that make the car, are getting more difficult to find.. Sport seats with good upholstery, lsd etc etc.If power seats, check all motor functions. Check electronics to make sure every switch etc does what it is supposed to do as electronics can be a killer. Check hard for rust . Foot wells, inner fender edges shock towers spare tire well rockers etc. Maybe not as bad as the E9s, but they are still rust prone. .Also easy to find solid used replacement panels, but good body work is still expensive. Don’t be affraid to get dirty. Bring a long pin with you so you can probe for rust in a suspicious area. If a pin will go through it, thered is a major problem. An automatic can be a big deal killer especially if the seller is looking for top $$, Probably $2-$3K in parts for the 5 speed conversion. Same game as with your E9s. Check and double check

Euro bumpers and airdam in good condition are approaching $1k. To convert the rears to euro takes more than just some body work. It is getting very hard to get any Euro E24 parts that should be dot compliant into the country. So far my dealer has come through but, again , it is getting tougher. many of the E24 and E12 and E28 guys have found a fellow in Canada who can get the euro parts, if in a jam, shipped to Canada and then to us. Schmeidman has alot of euro e24 parts as well, including euro bumper parts. Shifting can be fixed easily by using the lever from a Z3 There are several different ones, the difference being the distance from the pivot ball to the end of the shift lever. The longer the fulcrum the shorter the shift but the pressure to shift will go up.
