I noticed swamp juice leaking from the freeze plug that sits center between the carbs on a '70 2800. The plug was easy enough to remove and due to the casting it did not fall into the block :-). I am hoping I can clean up the area and put in a new one without removing any other components- I just removed the 2 hoses between the carbs. Anyone perform this operation? any tricks or warnings? Should I coat the sides of the new freeze plug with anything?...

Thanks,

Sealant is always a good idea, I like Dirko but Loctite Aviation Gasket Sealant is very good as well. Use a 1/2 inch drive 1 1/4" socket on an extension and tap it in with a small sledge. Good thing you are on the intake side, exhaust side is nasty.
