Anyone seen such a thing? I did some google searches and didn't come up with one.

I'm planning on a trip from San Diego to Denver CO to Butte, MT in the 2800 and was hoping to put some kind of nose protection on her.

Anyone "fitted" a bra from another model that kinda sorta works?

Mike,

For some of my cars, I have gone the route of the clear adhesive film bra, such as Invisible Mask. More difficult to apply but far better than traditional bras to protect the paint. Those bras will inevatibly scratch up your paint as grit and dust gets behind them, and that's assuming you actually have one that fits well and the straps and hook don't fly off further damaging your paint.

I looked and Invisible Mask doesn't have a patttern for E3. The other route is to use temporary adhesive film such as TracWrap. There are others out there. This is what I'm planning on doing for my next long trip with a nice car like the E3.

In driving my 1800 and coupe a few thousand miles on the highways I have found that they are far less prone to stone chips than modern cars, provided you drive smartly to avoid damage: Stay out from behind trucks, follow at a distance, etc. Our cars are taller and present less frontal area of painted surfaces than modernn cars. Not to say it can't happen, but I think I may only have one or two paint chips in all those miles.

Wondering what takes you to Butte,Mt.Very interesting place to see what man has done to Planet Earth!

Checking in:

I was brought to Butte for a new job, I gladly left San Diego and its million + people behind and am now in Montana.

The E3 made it the 1262 miles in just over 20 hours (I did stop in Utah after driving 16 hours straight and slept in the front seat for a couple hours in a rest area). Burned some oil but that's to be expected when running a 43 year old car 85+mph for almost an entire day.

Since here I've bought a house and (with a garage and workshop where the E3 lives), got married to my fiance. Haven't seen another E3 up here but I've gotten a lot of looks and compliments.

Didn't do anything to the carbs even though I'm at 5,538 ft elevation. Runs just fine.

I can walk to work (1 mile there and 1 mile back) so the car sits until weekends.

I don't think anyone who has ever said Montana is "cold" has been here. We had a snap of -20 degree weather for a week and the only thing I threw on other than a jacket was a pair of long johns for the walk. I was much, much colder in East Coast 35-45 degree winters than I've been here, and that includes a day of -31 degree weather taking pictures with the wife. In fact I haven't even shivered once and normally I'm a walking chatterbox. Higher elevation definitely makes the cold feel like it should, instead of that soaking damp bone chilling east coast weather.

Car only hesitated to start one morning when I first moved here and didn't have the garage and it sat for 6 days outside. Flooded, then started up after resting.

Now that I'm settled I'll try to be more active.

never did find a bra.

And the heat still doesn't work. Haven't needed it. The sun will warm that car up on a 0 degree day quite toasty. Drove an hour north to Helena one saturday at 20 degrees with no heat and we ended up cracking the windows a bit.

For what it is worth I'm a Covercraft Distributor and have sold their products for over 40 years. They offer their own Covercraft brand and also own Colgan and Le Bra brands. Basically they own that market.

No listings for E3 or E9 vehicles. I guess there is just no call for them based on potential volume.

Years ago, 1979, I owned a 733i and they did offer one for that vehicle. My car was used to produce the pattern. The earliest 733i listing in Colgan from them now is 1988. Time marches on.......................
