Hi All,

Trying to resolve some longstanding shimmy when I brake. Have new calipers and rotors and pads sourced from W&N, but been told it’s related to the hub and the rotors not mounting flush. So would like to find a set of front wheel hubs part number 31-21-1-108-379 for my 72 Bavaria. Appreciate any leads. Thanks

Although it is possible I suppose, I would think it would be very unusual for hubs to wear out. More likely the the tension strut bushing or even a wheel bearing that is too loose. Later BMWs have this problem with worn control arms.

Thanks. I think the bushings were checked, but will confirm. I have a set of control arms and bushings, which based on an e28 I had with shimmy at speed was the issue, but this is definitely while braking and at all speeds, though not noticeable at higher speed.

Good news - was able to source a pair from FrakenBav before his were upgraded:)

I drove an e32 740iL which had shimmy during braking, I was convinced it was the rotors. Owner took it to his mechanic and it needed control arms, geometry is very different I know. A slightly loose wheel bearing might also cause this. Hope this helps.

You can see in this pic of one of mine done and one original. You can see where the hub sits on the spindle with the bearing..easy peasy..
