thanks Don, but in hindsight , I regret the reference to Mike Brewer (and Edd China )as "flippers ". Their show ( Wheeler Dealers ) has been going for many years and has encouraged the preservation of all marques of old/classic cars under the guise of making a "profit" ...regular viewers know the long suffering Edd works for free !Cheers, Simon
Thanks for the posts butt....i still haven't developed an attack plan. Did purchase 80% of the parts after my incredible Sunday drive. Even Raced a 72 911... Old man style. Thanks for parts email. .
The sunroof was the firs job I tackled on my E9 a few months ago. I wasn't sure where to start either but now that I've done it, it isn't that difficult a job.
I'm assuming a cable end has broken, as that's the most common issue. A cable costs $100-200, depending upon if you get Volvo or BMW parts. Just make sure you get a cable for electric if you have electric. How to fix is here: http://e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18413
Perhaps your motor just stopped working. If so, that's super easy to fix but I'm not sure about the cost of replacement or rewinding. It is just a normal early sardine can power window motor.
About the only other thing that could be wrong is the clutch in the gear drive mechanisim attached to the motor. That is also easy to remove and fix (at no cost)
If it is too big a job for you and your frustration level is so high that you'd like to sell me your car at well below market then just PM me and you can transfer your burden to me.
