FS: '73 "high standard club car with turbina wheels"

I got lucky with my car too, both in condition and price.

I used to get firecrackers, cherry bombs, and M-80's from my local Good Humor ice cream man. Right off the truck. Later made a deal for a "brick" which was 144 packs in one. My first illicit transaction-age 13. Ahhh the '70's.

Sometimes you get a deal. I'd have bought that Pumkin car all day long at around $20K.
Peter's new car is another deal.

Mine was a deal too. One of the luckiest large purchases I have made in my adult life.

(not counting the Jumbo case of firecrackers I scored as a ten year old)

I will tell you that the Great Pumpkin ( 73 3.0CS) underwent a $48,000 bare metal, engine out, full restoration about 8 years ago...

Take a look at a few other imperfect E9s... I will show you the flaws... Flame away...
okay - open season on Jeff. Jeff, the pumpkin has the wrong rubber bumper over-riders for a 73.

just kidding - its a great buy. all of your coupes are great drivers ... i think i've seen all 4 of them.

Thanks Scott for picking on the Great Pumpkin...

See the Great Pumpkin is NOT perfect... I think I got cheated!

FWIW-
When I had John Esposito paint my 3.0CSi along with a few minor rust repairs the bill was almost $20,000.

Jeff Tighe had a couple of E9s Painted by John and supposedly Jeff paid even more then I did for just body and paint.

Then another guy with a 72 3.0CSi that was horribly rusty that had rust EVERYWHERE! In the Cowl, Dash, Inner panels, Suspension points, Trunk, Floors, Fenders, Rockers etc. The owner wanted the car restored at any cost.
So he paid John $35,000 to hand fabricate patches then install the $35,000 worth of NOS E9 body panels that he bought from BMW. That is $70,000 in a bare shell with fresh paint. I mean just a bare shell!
NO suspension,engine,trans, wheels,electrical,rubber,interior,chrome, etc etc.

I estimated at least another $25-$40K to finish this CSi (NOT a CSL). By the time the car is finished the owner will have over $110,000 in the car.

I think that Coupeking charges around $40K to cosmetically restore your E9 as long as the car is straight and sold... Maybe even more.

The point I was trying to make is that at $42,500 and $50K for either of the two 73 E9s on ebay that look like pretty nice "Driver" E9s, may not be that bad a deal.

If you buy a car for $18-$22K and then restore it you will be in the car a lot more!
