This may be useless info but I'll add it anyway. It appears to me that Mercedes sedans of the same era as our E3 sedans used the same trim but it was cut to different lengths. So if I'm correct I wonder how difficult it would be to cut an MB strip to the correct length and install the BMW rubber backing? Also I've noticed the US side markers are the same and also the rear door ashtrays.
