Looks like it is in great shape.

I'm glad the precedence is being set here on a nice tank. This is pretty closely aligned to what you would see a vendor sell a tank on the west coast. Many of these tanks have dents in the top. The brass is easy to dent and the only way to fix them is to slip them in half and gently massage them back into shape. I have a number of them that I am restoring for friends and a few to sell, but they are quite a ways off, and mostly allocated to interested parties. Finding an original tank that is dent free and no missing brackets is tough.

Also, I have a bunch of stickers for these that I bought from Carl. I'm happy to send a free sticker to the buyer.

OK, we need to see a pic of the sticker!
Markos, a sticker for the overflow tank? I did not know they existed. Mine, like Stevehose's, now unpainted brass. A thing of beauty. Well, to some. May I purchase a sticker to grace the brass?

Steve

This is what it basically looks like

Steve, for some time I've gone back and forth on whether to put a decal on the naked brass, so far I have resisted, to me it clashes but I'd like to see how it looks on yours if you decide to apply.

Boy, would that look cool on my polished brass hot! overflow tank. Any for sale? I can cover the shipping with a forever stamp.

Thank you all for your kind words, a good friend opted to buy it.

Were these fitted to CSL's? Mine has a plastic overflow tank, no idea if original?

They were installed in ALL E9’s, certainly upto the Face lift cars in 1974/75.

The parts book was published in 11/75 and by then it shows the synthetic tank. This tank used a different hose diameter to the rear carb and it states “ohne” CSi and CSi-L meaning ”without.” I think when new every e9 had a metal tank and the synthetic tank was standardized on later e3 and e12 models.

What’s the chance that the last cars in 75’s had the plastic tanks? Here’s 2 pics of original cars, the Green one is Christoph’s and the two plastic tanks have the same age/ color. The red car is ‘apparently’ unrestored too.
I can ofcourse ask him to confirm.....

Is the red one restored? It has rubber on the fender seams and the sound pads don’t look correct but hard to tell on my phone.
