what are on the shortwave stations?
why are they good to use?
Nothing you'd probably want to listen to, but shortwave is good for very long distances, so it is often used to transmit emergency messages.

I've toyed with the idea of installing a Becker SW adapter but I think it may be a bit over the top visually to mount it in my car, I was a SW geek as a kid and spent hours at night tuning in stations from all over the world. A very cool accessory though.

I have a Zenith Transoceanic Radio with the tan leather case. It has world SW capability. Sadly, there is almost nothing to listen to. Blame the internet. Battery and cord capable. The antenna must be four feet. No Radio Moscow but some others still broadcast.

You can still listen to worldwide radio in your car if you can play your phone through your audio system. There's a website that has many, many radio stations available across the world and they have an app as well. The site is called Radio Garden. Here's the link for a Munich radio station called Antenne Bayern I picked out pretty randomly. Data rates would apply, of course, for your phone vs the free broadcast via Short Wave. And I'm sure the content won't be the same, but as CSteve said, the content isn't there on SW anymore.

When I was young, I used to do pretty well listening to some distant AM stations with the old Philco radio I got from my grandmother. WLS in Chicago, WOAI in San Antonio, KAAY in Little Rock, and one in New Orleans that played The Shadow and other old radio plays. I wanted a SW radio, but never got one.

ASU means "Automatischer Stür Unterdrückung" (German)

"Super Arimat" means

It was the first system that could indicate to the driver which broadcasters send traffic information.

I believe it's a sort of noise reduction.
