I'd be all over one of these if I didn't have to drill my dash, of course correct for the early (?) CSL's
 
plus there is an alternative location for these lamps,
early carbed csls put these lights inside the glovebox, this way you only have to drill the bottom wall of the mentioned glovebox, and your dash will be safely intact and still you will have the very pleasing eyecandy item in your coupe

@deQuincey do you have a larger version of that glove box pic? I just acquired a NOS Butler map light new in the box and want to install there. Thanks.
 
Not sure I'll ever really use it! bought it for the period cool factor. But would have to work out something there regarding the door/light, maybe mount it elsewhere. Definitely not drilling my dash.

Steve, are you sure you would use as it requires glove box to be open?
 
Mine is mounted/hardwired under dash where glove box 'was'.
These throw a nice light for map reading opposed to the overhead or a flashlite. They can bobble/move a little bit when motoring.
