I've thought about doing this, but I'll have to admit that I'm confused. I'm probably missing something, and I haven't checked realoem for UK cars.

I see a "non-2000 CS dashboard" aka 2800 CS / 3.0 CS / 3.0 CSI / 3.0 CSL dashboard - Given the visible speaker vent. With the "non-2000 CS dashboard", the grab rail is integrated into the slim dash face (the part that can be removed with a few screws after removing the aluminum fascia). I'm assuming that this wood piece is from a 2000 CS. How do you actually integrate this into a dash that has a one-piece dash face? How do they do with the the UK cars? Do you have pics of the under side?

my guess is that this is a custom made piece (similar to the RHD piece). if i remember correctly, and hope our RHD members can answer this properly, there is a separate trim that goes under the wood grab rail? do the RHD versions also have the metal trim?. our vinyl wrapped grab rail is taller than this trim - it goes above and below the horizontal wood dash. i suspect that this wood trim would have to be screwed to the dash from underneath and then have a separate trim screwed onto the horizontal wood dash ... and covered with the metal trim? ...

I'm tempted by this too sometimes...maybe in jbbrjw that's not original. But don't know how to do it properly. I'm tempted to buy a rhd car just to figure it out but anyone out there that can let us know how this is secured and measurements would be appreciated. If seller can elaborate on how this way made and how to replace the existing vinyl covered piece let us know.

Hi all. UK RHD cars have the one piece wooden grab rail. this rail is fixed to the shelf of the dash with screws from underneath. It is also fixed at both ends with a screw through the curved vertical wood panel into the rail. When this is assembled into the car and bolted to the steel dash, the join is then covered with an ally U channel screwed to the wooden edge and then covered with a rubber trim to hide the screws.

Thank you. Great pics. Would love to see one of these off the dash and without the trim piece covering the screws. Anyone have a mold of these or dimensions? Bob, was yours made to match these original pieces but for lhd cars? If so, I'm interested. Also, what kind of wood did you use?

This is the standard one-piece CS grab rail. In the pic below, the aluminum fascia is removed, exposing the mounting screws. It kind of looks like two separate pieces in the pics, but that is just dust and dirt that creates the illusion.
