No affiliation. This looks like a great car. Great Color, still has CA Blue plates in Florida. That BIN price may seem steep but if it is everything it says it is, that is actually a bargain with original paint, all the tools, docs. There are some minor things that are not correct but very minor, interior is unbelievable. If you have been looking for one of these, here it is. I would buy it if I could.

Though it is wearing California plates my guess is that they were issued in mid 1984, meaning the original plates from 1972 (possibly from a state other than California) are gone. The bubbling rust is a bit out of character unless the car was parked near the beach for some time. Also, where are the headrests and wheel trim rings? Otherwise looks pretty nice. Curious if the seller will get his price.

Front seats were recovered with pinpoint style vinyl, rears are original herringbone, they probably covered the headrest holes. Always liked the dog dish hubcaps. Rust/corrosion in some unusual spots, and Jeff you're correct about the plates being circa 1984.

John, painted rear license panel and no A/C.

Also, where are the headrests ....

I was going to guess it was a European delivery car (no A/C, no headrests), but the speedometer is in MPH. Perhaps as Chris theorized, the headrests were deleted when the front seats were re-upholstered.

What's going on with those front bumper overriders? They point toward the sky. Wrong year overrider paired with the '72 bumper? Or is the whole front bumper bent up/back?

I had the same thoughts as Chris and Jeff after looking at the pictures more regarding the rust and no headrests, very unusual. I also don't think it is entirely original paint. Too many wavy lines down the driver side mid section. The rust is very unusual on the front quarter panels like it is. I think this car may have been hit at some point with sub-par repairs causing the rust up front. Like any car, it would be a very very good idea to have this checked out by local mechanic first to see what you are getting into that has no affiliation with seller. This guy is a dealer selling the car, looks like he has sold a lot of higher end cars in the past but I have also heard of some very sophisticated Porsche scammers lately and almost all of them are based out of Florida. So, buyer be ware here of course but if it is all it says it is, most of it looks to be in good shape. Just be careful buying sight unseen. Interesting to see what happens with it. Market still at a high until we have a stock market crash, this is where people are putting their hard earned fiat currency. At least one can still sleep in it if need be :)

Yes, painted rear license panel, but the actual center license mounting plate should match. My guess it has been replaced along the car's life.

I like the color but looking at this REALLY makes me appreciate ours.

I was waiting until someone mentioned the Bavaria "truck." Those were made in a very limited amount by a company in England is my understanding. I forget the actual number but that was an actual conversion. I'll probably never see one in person let alone see one for sale and be the first to respond but, always keeping the eyes peeled, you never know what you may find or what might find you!

Sorry, but I don't see bargain there. The Green one in BC for $4500 was a Bargain about two years ago. My first Bavaria had rust in those areas and it was serious.

I'm not arguing that the riviera blue bav is a good deal, but... from a 2015 perspective, anything from two years ago looks like a bargain.

Anyone else notice those two red-handled babies in the tool box?

Out of curiosity, what gives an 80's blue plate away from a 70's? 7 digits vs. 6? I was always told that 7 meant a commercial or truck tag vs. a regular car but now that I think about it that doesn't make any sense. It makes more sense that all the 6-digit one's got used up in the 70's and they had to go to 7 in the 80's.

Why is it so saggy in the rear suspension? Cut springs? The rust I see in the front is typical, dirt gets wedged above the front turn/park light. That car seems rus tier than many, if not most. Previous owners were unaware that they should clean inside wheel wells etcetera.
If you are ok paying 9000 for the screwdrivers and the dog dishes than the Buy It Now price of 11K$ (cough, cough) is probly an ok deal. My bav is so much nicer but I would feel guilty taking 11000 for it!
In fact for 11000 I will throw in a parts bav that is nicer than that:smile:

Exactly...........might as well double the 2013 price and your pretty close now a days....generally speaking of course for any sort of a "collector car."

My problem with the car is that to fix those body issues properly is probably ten grand. The only Bavaria (or Coupe or 2002) that makes sense to me at 2015 prices is a rust free one. The BC car was rust free from what I could tell.

Yeah and decent paint jobs are getting more and more pricey. Especially the real nice ones. I love original paint cars but the more you look at that car the more I don't think it's close to what he's saying. It's probably got some more areas of rust not in pics too although trunk looked decent but tire covered spare area. There was some weird stuff going on on rear fenders inside trunk. They look pretty beat up and looks like the plastic covers where intentionally cut. Not sure why someone would do that? It's a great original color but yes much better to start with rust free car. With the blue plates you'd think it would be in better shape. Interesting to know the entire back story and how it ended up at that dealer in Florida never registering it there. Everything has a price hopefully someone pics it up at a price they feel fair and saves it. Still very much potential. There are a lot of pluses too. Easy to pick out all the bad and not focus on a lot of the good. It's only money LOL. Curious to see if it sells.

It may have lived most of its life in a coastal community (think Santa Cruz) getting bathed in salt fog every morning.

It may never have been west of Tallahassee. While I don't know this car's dealer, and am not accusing them of anything, I wouldn't put it past some classic car dealers to just bolt a pair of blue California plates onto a snow belt car and say the paperwork had been lost.
