Hi Tom,

I have done my panels with a friend of my, and all are done besides the instrument part. I’m really interested in how you managed to get the new veneer around the corner of the instrument part without having the veneer to break/split apart at the sharp corner in the bottom?

Are you using steam, a veneer softener or a mold to get this done?

Thanks!
Vacuum bag method...I have always used (and re-used), round wood blanks in the gauge holes, slightly smaller than a tight fit....If they stick in the hole, no problem, as I use a razor knife (Xacto) to carefully cut the veneer face circle to release, as you have to do this anyway... If the wrap isn't perfect, I use a regular household iron without steam, as the glue will steam the veneer....(even if the glue has cured, it will resoften with the heat.... (Franklin Titebond III) Try it on something that doesn't matter to get a little seat time/confidence, and do it gradually from face/flat around the corner. Roy Underhill, eat your heart out...:)
