fs - petri 38cm

Another member mentioned that the 02 hub is too short, that the spokes are very close to the stalks making their function quite awkward.
Maybe someone who is actually using the 02 hub can chime in.

I don't think so, because with that type of thinking this user will also find CSL hub as not proper distance to the stalks.
Any way high $$$ for that condition.

Good morning all.

I recently installed a 380mm Petri using a 2002 hub and there is indeed a minor issue with clearance between the headlamp stalk and the underside of the rim of the wheel. My ungloved fingers will pass between the rim of the wheel and the stalk, but only just. If I am wearing driving gloves, which I like to do, there isn't sufficent clearance for my gloved fingers. There is more clearance between the indicator stalk and the rim, so I do not have a problem on the right side of the wheel.

I assume this issue, however minor, is the one drawback of using the 2002 hub with a 380mm Petri in an E9. I want to stress that this is a very minor niggle, but nonetheless it is a slight issue I have found with the shorter 2002 hub.

The following photo isn't terribly clear, but if you look carefully and ignore the reflections, you can see the difference in space between the two stalks and the wheel rim.

Cheers!
Dan

Wunderbar! The pic certainly helps to visualize how close it is.
Again, thanks.

I really like that wheel. Fortunately, I haven't yet gotten to the point where I have a bunch of steering wheels and change them from time to time.

Dan, are you sure your light stalk isn't bent? I remember thinking that from a previous picture I saw of it once.

Here is a shot from above of mine, how does yours compare?

Thanks for taking the photo, Steve. My headlamp stalk might have a bit more of a bend to it than yours, but I still think the 2002 hub has the wheel rim further forward by the difference in length between the E9 and 2002 hubs.

I am going to see if I can buy an E9 Petri hub and that should give us a definitive answer. Anyone got one for sale?

Thanks again!
Dan

It is well established that the CS hub is longer. I think it would be very difficult to bend the stalk without damaging the switch. It would have to be intentionally bent, and you would probably need to completely disassemble the unit to do so.

Steve - You have a CSL Petri & Hub right?

Just looking at the diagram the CS hub is 6mm longer - I can't imagine that making much of a difference. The CSL hub, sure, but good luck finding one.

Perhaps I just need to borrow an E9 hub. Trial fit, report my findings, and return it?:D

Anyone else out there with a 380mm Petri and 2002 hub combination who can comment on clearance between the headlamp stalk and the rim?

Actually John, 6mm being almost 1/4 inch, that would make a worthwhile difference.
