I am selling a complete 1991 M5 motor that was intended as an E12/E3/E9 swap project that I decided not to undertake. This is a complete US Spec motor rated at 315 HP. It is completely rebuilt and includes the following items:
Rebuilt cylinder head with new OEM valve springs
polished crank, checked for strightness
New timing chain and tensioners
New oil pump
new main and rod bearings - std. size no grinding was required
new in box upper and lower gasket kits
Honed and blasted cylinder block
New stock size ring sets (Original pistons still met specs)
New head bolts and all stretch bolts required for cam box
Stock ECU (no chip)
Air box and air flow meter
Individual throttle body assy.
Stock cams
stock headers (stainless)
Custom motor mount to fit S38 block into E9 Coupe subframe
Comes with, starter, alternator, harmonic balancer, Oil filter housing, air pump, complete wire harness, etc.
I have deliberately left this motor unassembled so that the purchaser can remove each part for each individual BMW OEM box at assembly, this is to absolutely know the quality of their rebuild. A fully assembled motor is in many ways, a 'mystery motor' in terms of not knowing what is EXACTLY is inside. With this motor, you will know every aspect has been rebuilt to the factory std., using all factory parts.
This sale includes the original receipts for these parts from La Jolla Indp. and the local BMW Dealer. This is a 105k mile motor that mic'd out with very little bearing or cylinder wall wear. The sale does not include the air box (would suggest an S38 b35 for an e9) as it is much smaller. you will also need to provide your own oil pan. I will gladly assist for local pick up.
