As far as e9 thy I am not sure?
I can’t imagine BMW made a different one to use vs e3 models.
See if anyone chimes in on this or maybe we need to ask someone.

Well it seems mine does... it's mounted under the dash; after +1hr of driving my radio always stopped working due to heat soak....

The thermal reactor is the exhaust header where air was injected into the ports, this debuted on the 75/76 2002s here in the states. Also used in the 530i here and infamous for overheating and cracking heads.
