Funny VIN story

My coupe CSA #2250282 sat in a shop for 20 years unregistered. When I tried to register it here in Manitoba Canada, motor vehicles told me a snowmobile made in 1994 had the same vin number and I couldnt use mine!! So they wanted to...what they call 'pigskin' it. Remove all my Vin tags and give me a new Manitoba vin number. I went back and forth with them for a month and a half and finally gave up. Final solution...I have to drive the car to BC, where BC motor vehicles will register it and preserve my VIN.Weird. Oh well, I wanted to blow the 20 years of carbon out of it anyway!-)) Perseverance Furthers! Just thought I'd share that.

When are you doing the trip? Stop in Canmore on the way through to the coast but better wait until the TCH is repaired - it was washed out (here and in Banff) in the floods last weekend.

Let me be the first to ask you to please register that snowmobile in our registry.
 
My posts may have been less than enthusiastic because my coupe has been basically been sitting up on the lift for 3 years waiting for attention.

Finally cleared up enough timespace to get the coupe down, finish the calipers, struts, change the oil, put in a battery,mount some Michelen xvs 185 and wipe the car down.

I parked it with a full tank 3 ago, over that time thirty litres of gas evaporated. Ten litters a year!
Obviously pretty bad gas and surely empty carb bowls. not a fan of Starting fluid, so I opened the gas line at the t-fitting just past the pump and gravity fed the carbs and primed the pump with fresh gas. Boom. All systems go.

Went for a spin to to get fresh gas.

Such a sweet sounding engine.
Back home without issue.

Now that I have driven the thing for the first time in three years I will be more sympathetic to your passions. :)

Nice photos... great story. especially the Manitoba part, But hey, at least you HAVE a lift! Mind if I drive up there and we can rebuild my differential? ;) Only a tunnel, 3 bridges and a ferry ride from here!
