Hi guys. Visiting from the E3 side...quick question about a gasket. I'm in the process of tearing down and redoing my 73 Bavaria and, while rebuilding the Zeniths, I removed the lower portion of the intake manifold that the water travels through for the choke set up, to clean and inspect... My problem is that I can't seem to find if there's a replacement gasket to buy..I'm not sure what areas to look in on the parts sites....cooling system? Fuel and delivery? I figure this is a common one for you guys. I've looked around for diagrams with part names, but no luck. Thanks!

"lower portion of the intake manifold"...? I thought there were two manifolds, each serving three cylinders via one carb. And I've been there. maybe you need to restate your quest.

Realoem.com goes into carbs here:

Intake manifold bits are most of the way down on the page at:

Alternatively you could consider making one for yourself, most auto parts stores should have gasket paper in various thicknesses. Gasket paper + Xacto = new gasket.

That's it! Thank you, Rick! I must be losing my touch with the web searching...I usually am great at scouring the internet for things. Many thanks!

And, 'Honolulu', you are correct. I don't know why I implied 'one' manifold. I think because I was only tackling one at a time, but thank you for the links.

Once I get a bit more done on this, I'll get pics posted up of my progress...watch out for the Polaris Bavaria! :-)

Here's a side by side fairly clean vs untouched...yikes!

Oh man...just hearing that, Chris, scares me to try the next manifold!
The 1600 I restored a few years ago just kept handing me broken bolts...it became my sand trap..

Roger that. How important is the water choke system on these cars in SoCal? It all seems in good condition, but I've always either had DCOE webers or carbs with manual choke...Thanks! I just need time to play with my new toy! Kids and work really get in the way of my hobbies...;-)..
