Gearbox Input Shaft Play

For the ten years I have owned the E3 there has been a distinct "shake" in the drivetrain when taking up drive (manual transmission). I always thought it was either the Guibo or centre bearing although inspection of these has never revealed any obvious faults. Also present was a chattering from the transmission at idle that could be stopped by just lightly touching the clutch pedal. Anyway, the box has been removed to reveal a significant amount of lateral play in the input shaft. This would explain the above issues perfectly. Having only just discovered this, I have yet to do any research however I'm sure there are lots on here who can advise. Is this a major job to repair, indeed can it actually be repaired with bearing replacement or is it likely to need a complete overhaul given that it has been "shaking" for at least ten years. I have to add that despite this issue the transmission has been faultless at all other times so I don't think that this has caused any other issues within the box (hopefully).

Looks like the input bearing is available unlike the five speed. 23121205197
I checked a couple of dealer websites for that bearing and it's listed as backordered. It may take some time to become available. Of course, there may be other suppliers that have the OEM part, or there may be a cross match from another maker.

Well that's it sorted, ten years of transmission shake rectified, not that I've been actively trying to fix it as it never bothered me too much but I'm glad it's finally resolved.
