if its from a late e24, probably wouldn't have the speedo drive
but is there a drive gear inside ???

If there is no drive gear inside, I think it's possible to mount one, isn't it ?
I think those drive gears are scarce anyway...
every 4 speed has the gears …
and nobody wants 4 speed conversions
