I am looking for the above. I covered the first 400 miles whilst fettling the car after the restoration. The engine is an Alpina B10 3,5 1 and the gearbox is a standard 4 speed. The engine pulls really well but the car is drastically undergeared. I can start in 2nd with little trouble and 4th feels like a low 3rd from other manual cars I have driven.

If I find a suitable 265/6 can I use the speedo drive from my 4 speed and install this on a 5 speed without the drive. If I can then it will help my search a lot.

If you want your car with the upgraded engine to be a cruiser rather than a drag racer (like I did), you might consider a 3.07 differential. I have a 265/6 five speed and the diff in the car when I bought it was 3.64. Changing the diff brought my engine rpm in each gear down 20% and made my speedometer dead on accurate (it had been 20% high). My car has a 3.8+ liter FI injected engine with about 280 hp that was 'built' by Metric Mechanic in the early 90's. I really love that trans and diff combination with this upgraded engine.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. My diff is too low as well. Its good to get your feedback on this.
