I had a Getrag 265 installed in my 72 coupe and since then, the shifter hits the left side of the center console when I select reverse. Has anyone else had this issue? I never had this problem with the stock 4-speed.

Thanks,

Pat

Take a asymmetric shift rod and reverse it.
Now stack washers on the pin that goes into the shifter base so that it is offset.

A great LJI trick.

Mine does the same thing, hits a little when select reverse otherwise all is okay. I just live with it. It only just rocks the console. As others pointed out there are some fixes.

The shifter rod is part number 25-11-1-220-539
The connector is part number 25-11-1-220-198

Yes I had the same problem just recently, I got round it by making my own short shift stick which i made 25mm longer than a standard stick the put a 15mm thick spacer bolted to the stick the that throws the selector rod over 15mm to the euro dribers side, then put the selector rod through a hole at the bottom of the spacer and now the gearshift if smaller than my alpina E34.....but the old gearboxs dont like being clunked into gear so quickly im told. If you want a pic of what I did, pm me your email and il send you through the details. Its an easy job for a novice mecanic and even easier for a good diy'er.
