Have only now got round to fitting my e9 glovebox . The top edge of the lid does not align properly no matter how I adjust it. The centre is a close fit while the two outer corners are showing a gap of 10mm. The top edge of glovebox lid is fairly straight while the padded lower part of the dash which it closes against is curved, is this a common feature on RHD cars

A common problem , I totally disassembled the glovebox door and reshaped it to the glovebox ,I did a lengthy post about 2 months ago. This my 3rd E9 , same problem on each one to some degree, its frustrating looking down and seeing the corners poking out. Good luck.

Wonder if the LHD cars suffer from the some problem? Do you think it would be possible to reshape using only a heat gun.
You are trying to bend metal, its a tough one with a heat gun , I suppose if you had the lid in some kind of gig forcing the ends in while applying heat it certainly could help, its a risk doing anything with the vinyl still on , with the lid off lay it flat with blocks under the corners and put weight in the center then a bit of heat over the lid and lit it sit overnight , worth a shot.

Went down a different route instead of altering the glove box lid I pealed back the bottom edge of the leather padded panel above the lid and put in extra padding at both ends to close in the gap then reglued the leather back in place. Very pleased with result.
