Inspired by tygaboy's constant posting of racing pics, I want to share one of my favorite pics of an E9 in race trim (and some driver dude sitting on the hood)

I simply love this picture for several details

The fender is integrated with the front spoiler. I hadn't noticed that before.
I don't recall seeing this design feature on other racing E9s.

Early Alpina colors, Hans Stuck Jr?

Not quite
He won the Formula 1 title in '75, '77 (not in '76 due to a horrible accident), and again in '84. Two times Ferrari, third time McLaren.
Look at his face, it is very characteristic (even though it was impacted by his accident afterwards).
You know him well for sure

Yep - Alpina played a very important role in his career, as we know. So many races between 68 and 73, starting with the 02, then 2800CS (as in the picture) and finally the CSL...

James Hunt—Lauda’s rival in F1—also had a stint behind the wheel of an Alpina car.
The car with number 2, driven by Hunt and Jacky Ickx at Paul Ricard in 1973. They finished second at the ETCC race
