Great sound alternative (no wiring required!)

The noise cancelling over-ear headphones are quite OK to drive with.

They will cancel out the repetitive noises like tires, engine, some wind etc.

If someone honks at you then you will still hear it well.

What I really like about them is that since they cancel out the droning noises you get less tired on long trips. You also don't have to play the music at high volumes to hear it over all the other noise.

Quite ok but illegal

Portable Bluetooth Sound

I bought a TDK A33 for around $100. It booms and is weatherproof to boot. Will try it in my coupe today (sunny in Chicago)!!

Great thread and an amazing solution to a big problem on classic cars in the past. It's a big shift due to technology, prevents theft and many other advantages. Pmanson, I'm amazed you got away with asking another guy about the size of his boom box, (as you say in Europe?) Most American men are not comfortable talking to another man about that, especially not when you get into the 20" range...

small tablet/phone, JBL bluetooth speakers, Pandora. no holes, very decent sound, can find your way home, problem solved :-)

Don't forget about the built in microphone feature of the Jambox. This allows hands free incoming/outgoing phone calls, which is great in a state like California where talking on the phone while driving is illegal....not to mention driving a stick and talking on the phone is a pain in the ass.

That is one of the few California laws that actually makes sense, I would bet my coupe on it that if they enacted that law in Texas the death toll would drop dramatically as long as they included no texting with the no talking rule. It's beyond me to think that anyone can try to text and drive at the same time- I guess that I could just be less talented than most 17 yr. old drivers:confused:

I agree with no texting, but I'd like to see the data that talking on the phone is more dangerous than eating a Big Mac or adding hot sauce and eating a taco while driving, currently overlooked in the hype of anti-cell phone use.

how about women putting on makeup while driving (not at a stop light). i've also seen people reading a book or newspaper while driving in rush hour traffic.

It's quite messy but working

I imagine I will clean it up a bit but here is my $300.00 solution

Stan, is that the dual cupholder for the E32 7 series? Did you have to do anything to make it securely grip the e-brake handle?

I have this same one and I cut some strips of thin cork gasket material and glued them on one side of the base to it holds it securely to the ebrake but allowing the holder to come right off when not needed. Otherwise it will flop around.

I like it Stan, I would probably use the parking brake when my coffee was still in the holder- not sure if I trust myself :-)
