I remember back in college, I had a friend from the rowing team & one of his team mates caught a glimpse of my coupe....

It put a huge smile on his face and he was not the type to be emotional (a big athlete type). He (21 or 22 years old) started to reminisce about a GTO Judge he owned in NorCal before moving to UW for the rowing squad...

He loved his car, but the presence of the CSi overwhelmed him. Later that night he caught another glimpse of the car and said 'I just love the look of that front end....it looks like a shark'....

With that blue paint, on the street full of mediocre cars in the U-District that night....it did just that--look like a shark.

These are the moments when car ownership shows its rewards, its like a child or family member at that point.

It is funny how those things happen.
When I graduated college in 1977 I wanted a new 2002tii but as I found, they stopped making them and I bought a 320i. I stopped by a friend's house and he was washing his new 1977 Corvette. He saw my BMW and his face dropped. He hadn't even considered one until he saw it close up. It was funny.

For me the story stood out because it was about 'the judge' and not some less exciting car...or name

My family were Pontiac owners, so that Judge was quite an Icon. That was a great era for cars….then the mid 70's took hold and it all went to crap after about 1974 (Germans kept making nice stuff though).

My best friend's Dad had a new coupe and I remember heated discussions concerning the merits of the 6.6 Litre Grand Prix my Mom was speeding in vs the puny 3.0.

The Green Coupe I got a ride in on a fast road trip to see the 1974 Cdn GP at Mosport was the spark that got me interested in German cars.

I thought I wanted a JUdge until my step-father drove home in a brand new '69 2002 from "British Motor Works," so I thought. First time I drove that car changed my life. Quickly figured out Detroit built nothing except glorified model Ts that could go fast in a straight line. I've never looked back.
