Hi all,
I'm working on a e9 S38 swap and need some recommandations about the dynamo/power steering and the hydraulic brake booster in combination with the brackets to use.
The M5 has a 140Amp dynamo which is overrated to my opinion and it definitely weights more than the original e9 dynamo.
I however don't have an original e9 55Amp dynamo but do have 2 65Amp Bosch 0 120 489 028 dynamo's. To my opinion this should be sufficient.
My question is related to the power steering pump. The M5 pump delivers 130bar pressure and the e9 100bar pressure if I'm right.
With taking of the self leveling system of the M5 I'm not sure whether the 100 bar pressure is enough for the brake booster?
This article: http://bmwe32.masscom.net/maxf_website/booster/booster.htm from the e32 forum suggests that the system is kept at +/- 52-57 bar by the accumulator.
I would like to stick with the original e9 brackets and dynamo/power steering pump because of the weight advantage and ease to install.
Does anyone know which pump also would fit to the e9 bracket? Would the e32 pump in the picture also fit to this bracket? because that one delivers 130bar pressure, then this issue would also be fixed.
Any thoughts/suggestions whether the e9 pump is good enough for the brake performance? Has anyone done this before?
