Has anyone acid dipped a resto project E9? If so how did this turn out, how much did it cost? And where did you have it done?

why do you ask?--to neutralize corrosion?--a valid way tp prep?--how serious id your "case"--what gain in metal prep would you expect?--at the expense of having acidic residue remaining in every nook and cranny of the complex body structure is a real problem--residue that would do battle with and react with many of the next steps of sealing, priming, etc. etc.--
a very frustrating and self defeating experience of any I have heard who have gone the route you are asking about.
Think long and hard before acting on your question--and do some real homework as to other professional restoration steps.

I haven't done a shell but I have just had two door frames done (outer skins removed prior to fitting new alloy skins) they came out great. First they were dipped in acid, then in a anti rust bath which eats all the rust leaving shiny but pitted metal and finally they phosphate coated them as a temporary protection. The thing is I wouldn't recomend getting a full shell done unless you know someone who can dip the whole car in a tank of primer as there will be zero paint in any of the cavities and I wouldn't want to just rely on cavity wax. Better to get the shell blasted by a specialist.

A valid response, but what would you suggest as a way of completely tackling the rust problem. Because by the same token if you completely blast or sand or strip by hand then you are leaving rust to creep up on you new paint job instead of the acid.

There is another alternative, I have done one car this way . . .
There is a company in PA called Reddi Strip . . . They can remove all paint, undercoating, and any rust along with any non steel part left on the chassis.
The process does not use acid, it is done in a bake oven, wash tanks, pressure washing and a final zinc enriched wash to protect the bare metal from immediate oxidation.
Much better than an acid bath, and very effective.
That said, I feel I need to warn you as to what you're getting into. Refinishing and striping an E9 for this is not for the faint of heart or anyone on a budget. There is extensive body work and paint work required to prep a car for paint after this process. It takes alot of work.

yes that's them.
They charge by the panel, and chassis, so doors hoods and trunklids sunroof panels all create extra charges.
We dropped the car and went back 2-3 weeks later to pick it all up.
