The other factors are that the manufacturer pays ridiculously low times for warranty repairs.

My local dealer uses 1.5 times the flat rate for calculating the charges.

The times are set by the manufacturer on warranty repairs, what your dealer tries to get away with and what the warranty auditor will pay on are two different thing.
