Hi, need help with headers for 71 2800cs, help and suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks in advance Joe

stock 2.8L?

would be hard to find 1.5" headers. Maybe try to hunt down for some used ones.

Most are 1.625" primary tubes (IRL, Scheidemann, Racing Dynamics-not sold anymore) which I would think would need AT LEAST a 3.5L. And even ideally, would have a cam and ported heads.

i suggest you look into the ex Stahl employees at ACP in Harrisburg, PA
717-232-2800

i would recommend the 1 3/8" for a stock engine ... 1 1/2" is for a fire breather and 1 5/8" is race material. doesn't really have that much to do with 2.8L vs 3.5L ... it has to do with the breathing requirements. Jere Stahl recommended the 1 3/8" primary tube for most BMW straight 6 engines. you can also check Korman's website where they recommend the same. Korman is currently using the ACP headers

I just had my 1 3/8" stahl's ceramic coated. They are a thing of beauty. Too soon for the car and too long for my wall. :D Currently hiding under my parts car.

Mr Markos thanks for showing off, those are beautiful indeed

Thanks! Just food for thought if you find an ugly set. Mine weren't pretty. Cost was ~$300 to coat.

Check with Bert if you can't find new "stahl" long tubes. He had a set. Quotes on "Stahl" because they closed shop, but the jig maybe operational.

Stahl header designs are being produced, they just don't have the Stahl label on them. Korman is confirmed to be using the new iteration and they are made to the stahl design on the stahl jigs ... by ex-stahl employees.
that being said, i think you want to coat the new headers anyway ... so if you can find a good set used ... you will come out much less expensive. i will caution you that the ends are different if the header comes off of a newer m30 to meet up with the exhaust system.

those would be nice Mike. so did you decide to NOT put those on your coupe? i loke those a lot more than the RHD version.

They are on my coupe. Just another option if someone is looking for headers. They are off an Alpina B10. I found them in Holland, I am sure you could find another set with a little digging.

I have set of Mystery headers that are the same as Pamp was using (Haven't seen him here in a while , hope he is doing well) as well as some new 1.5 inch Stahl's. I had the mystery ones coated inside and out at a local place called Fireball coatings and the Stahl's coated by Nitroplate. I'll grab some photos next time I am at my garage, hopefully tomorrow.

Those Alpina headers are nice. The reason the RHD ones are so convoluted is to avoid the power steering box which is just underneath on a RHD car and to keep the tubes the same length.
