I'm installing a faux-suede headliner in a non-sunroof car. Overall looks easier than I thought. My forensic analysis of the old headliner indicates no glue was used on the sides. Only the aluminum trim holds it on. Is that true? I'd prefer to glue the sides anyway I think and then install the trim. Is it possible to over-glue it? I think my material is thinner than the original so it may not be held tightly enough by the trim. Also on the rear wooden piece, several of the push pegs were missing and someone had used screws instead (first screwing the wood on, and then installing the headliner towards the front so the screws are concealed). Am I correct in assuming I should just go back to push pegs or is there some good reason why they did this?
I think I paid $15/yd for the suede and my mother sewed it for me. I think it's going to look great!
