Heavy Duty Strut Gland Nut Spanner

Struggled to remove a strut gland nut and needed a little 'persuasion', so since i was visiting the laser cutters i came up with this.

Internal diameter of the 'spanner' is 55mm. This was used on a m48 gland nut (from an e12 M535i) - I think the e9 m50 gland nut upper part is the same size diameter (c54mm diameter), so the spanner should work on the e9 also. 5mm thick mild steel, plated. Overall length 33cm.

Can someone confirm the upper outer diameter of the m50 gland nut? c54mm?

(the gland nut in the photo has the seal missing)

Yes - although it does usually have a dust seal in it and the threaded part is m50 vs this one which is at m48 (e12). If you buy Bilstein dampers from the likes of W&N they come with a new top gland nut.

learning about those differences could you tell if this spanner will be able to work on my e9 bilstein nut ?
if yes i will take one together with the clutch rings

The spanner does fit the e9 strut gland nut - its the same Bilstein MS 08/6 part number (from what i can ascertain some BMW, Porsche, VW) (BMW 2002 uses MS 08/7 with its smaller diameter damper piston)

Major outside diameter (55mm) the same as the e12 type (but different m50 vs m48 thread on the minor diameter where it screws in the top of the strut)
