Hello I'm Hony from South Germany,

and i have restored a 2800 CS Coupé from 09/1970, which ist now equiped with a 3.5l 218 HP engine from a BMW E24, but Motronik 1.3 selfmade conversion to the CSI inlet from the original 3.0 CSI to keep the vintage styling.

It ist also equiped with a 5 gear manual transmission and 25% LSD differential. The most interesting part in my E9 is the street legal CSL replica parts combined with a hitch trailer. I am allowed to trailer (or tow) up to 1700 kg in my E9 and it is so much fun.

I also invented a conversion kit to electric Odo, cause my next step is to integrate a cruise control, Boardcomputer 2 from E24 and also the entire Check Control System. The electric Odo works great and as a result you need no longer the expensive Transmissions with Outlet for the Odo cable. Maybe also interesting for you Guys with Motor swaps and more modern transmissions.

At the moment I am working with my engineering students from the local university of applied sciences on the first Abs (Anti lock) System inside an E9 and the retrofit of an original air conditioning. Winter time ist working time.

The mechanical parts of the Abs System are already done, I only have to do all the wiring and put the battery into the trunk. Secondly I am also working in amore direct power steering with less rpm while cornering and with some luck I get it finished next Weekend. Target 3.5 rpm from left to right instead of Stock 4+.

As you can see lots of work to get done, but If James Bond would have been a German agent, he might have wished (or destroyed) my E9 in a mission.

Sorry for my bad english, but I hope you enjoy my engineering or at least the pictures.
Looking forward to get in Touch with younand maybe you Like my new solutions to the old E9....

Hony

I forgot to mention.. the wheels are early hartge BBS RA 16` from 1981 and the car is equiped with aftermarket sport seats, 4x power windows, colour glass, Blaupunkt Sqr88 Radio with bluetooth and self made Pin striping and stainless exhaust and a schmiedmann scmm30 header. My target ist Always to keep the vintage styling but with invisible "modern" techniqe.

Welcome, my car is also Polaris, and I get the "James Bond car" question quite often.

I appreciate your design philosophy: "My target is to keep the vintage styling, but with invisible 'modern' technique."

I am an electrical engineer, and I look forward to hearing more about your designs.

Hi Honey, nice to see you here!
Greetings from Münsterland
Thomas

Nice to see and read about your car also here, Hony:)
I am sure James Bond would appreciate the trailer; but maybe even more so our companions from The Netherlands?

The Abs System ist fully desigend by the Students- they are amazingly creative and with little help from the University they get all Problems solved. Good Projects will lead to good students.

We also hope, that we get the car back on the road till 1st of April to show the ABS System to the german Tüv to get it official into the car documents.

We are also very curious how the car brakes and handles with the new braking system. I didn't like the brake padle feeling of the original 2 hose system- it felt indirect and "long distance" even with steel brake cables instead of rubber. I think the possible improvements on the power steering won't be that effective, but we'll see. It's more about getting things done. I also buildlt serveral BMW E30 strokers with 2.8l m20 engines and 6 speed swaps and other stuff like this.

I'm a "classical mechanical" car engineer, but got also a little bit into electronics over the time, but my students are much better with electrons, controll units, wiring and other Coulomb stuff. I couldn' to the Project without them.

The swabian people (geographically next to the bavarians) love it practial, too.

I have a hitch trailer system on every car always with the highest pull limit. Why not combing the usefull things with the beautiful ones. Especially with 310 Nm of the "senior Iron pig" m30b34 engine.

But .. i also modifiyd the E9 electrical connection, so that you can't see it directly. You can only see the Cover cap of the detachable system.
