Hello, new E9-er from Encinitas CA

This is going well. Everything I pulled off the doors was filthy but cleaned up very well. Armrests won't need to be sprayed over. Pressing the door cards flat for a few days while waiting for the vinyl color spray. Wood went to Goleta this AM. 171314C6-181A-42D1-A382-49C35965F9A1.jpegC09CE04C-6818-4834-B411-1E0581F34D08.jpeg60E9D7E5-7376-45BB-B368-19DAE8F063D7.jpeg52BA217D-915F-4862-979D-5C7270A6C1D2.jpeg

Hi Eric, just saw this thread, dig the brown coupe. No harm with the automatic.
I am also an Alfa/Italian car person, although I started out with the BMW. Have a 57 Sprint and a Jr Z at present, and I concur that Italians invented rust and Karmann just stole their idea.
The BMWs are refreshing because things like their 50 year old original instruments and electrical systems tend to work. And the engine is so sweet. But they are luxury cars compared with little Italian cars.
Your transmission is a Borg Warner unit, and if it ever needs a refill it can be done at AAMCO or any similar transmission specialist.
Enjoy the project!

Nice work on the color match. Don't forget to replace the vapor barrier, if you haven't already.

OK the seats and door panels are now all the same color. Very pleased with the spray dye, restored wood goes back in next week.

Howdy Eric- I'll be working in RSF on Wednesday. Let me know if you need anything else from the shop.

What color and what product did you use?
Looks terrific!
Hi Stan, I used the World Upholstery spray dye Gobi color. Wiped surfaces down a couple times with lacquer thinner to try to get rid of any Armor All type residue. Did not have a problem with adhesion or fisheyes or anything, doesn’t smell, not overly glossy finish. 4 cans was enough for all panels and seats. We’ll see how it wears over time.

The lighting and the color tone of your pictures are reminiscent of the BMW brochures of the era. Nice job on the cleanup!

Thanks TMM, the spray coating is holding up well so far.
