I found this broken piece on my footwell carpet. I recently swapped out my Nardi wheel and hub with a Petri. Could this be some sort wire management tab from under the steering column?
How heavy is the metal? If it is thin, it could easily be a welded on tab for a relay or wiring connector that has broken off, look around the steering column and area and see if there is welded on bit that has a broken end on it
I agree with Macha -- that looks to be too robust to be a wire management bracket. The slot in the end appears to be designed to fit over a tab. The lack of wear around the slot seems to indicate once installed, whatever it attached to was held securely in place. The residue around the slot appears to be foam backing. Is this perhaps designed to hold part of the dash in place?
No broken tabs that I can visually see and the ones along the inside of the firewall are original body color (green not black). Maybe something under the dash that was broken when I removed the speedo. I will just keep it in the glove box for now and someday when I install the new wood set I bought from Bela I will find where it came from.
