Where and how do you get those darn grommets on the emblem posts?

For example, do you put the emblem on the indentation on the nose ("hood') of the coupe and push the grommets from the underside?? Seems next to impossible to get these things on....

Do it differently

Theoretically you buy the stock fasteners, put them into the holes and then push the emblem into the holes.....BUT I have never managed to succeed. I think the newly manufactured fasteners are a bit too large and narrow. Too large to enter the holes and too narrow for the pins of the emblem to fit.

I have a whole box of various old and new fasteners, but on one car I simply put some "childrens toy clay" type of material between the body and emblem. Not too much which makes the emblem move back and forth, but just enough to hold it steady.

This discussion goes for the rear emblem as well, but there the rear side is much more accessible. You can also use those curved spring metal clips, of suitable size to secure the pins of the emblem. Some emblems have longer pins and others shorter. I have a whole box of them and then there is the original 2 chrome parts plus the emblem arrangement for the trunk lid....
