i would appreciate if you can post pics of the layout and position of the jack, wheel, and the tool for the wheel nuts in your trunk under the floor cover

i just bought a second hand jack and wheel-nut tool, and i am as happy as a kid :-D!

Here's a pic i found on the internet a while ago as I was wondering the same, the wheel nut tool goes under the jack, not sure if it is 100% correct however.

any other layout help ?

hi we are trying to identify the psoition of the three elements around the spare wheel in the trunk:

- jack
- wedge
- wheel nut tool

anyone that has the original configuration can send a pic ?:-D
regards

I believe the wheel nut tool (or lug wrench) mounts underneath the jack which is held down by a wing nut. Or is that my 2002? I keep my wheel chock in the trunk caddy, it won't fit next to the spare tire. Under the tire it is going to jump around so that is not a good location.

Correct?...no idea. But I now remember I need a wingnut!

Yes

With all the plastic and "elephant skin" bits...How it should look. Quite a few who gave up on the trim. If you got your car with a naked trunk...who is to know? Just one more of those deals. Is the car to show...or a golf club hauling trunk OK...works for me... Oh...I taped up the fabric for the view. I have gutted this trunk at least twice. Make fix!!!

may be you misunderstood my words, i meant that i see in your car, some details in the shape of the trim that are very different to mine, see below and compare:

The bits

Well,
If you were to pick up the liner and observe, you may find a stud. This is as I know how the cars came. The pipe up on the 2002, kind of the same...the elephant skin tucks...there you go...a puzzle. But please note the O.E.M hold down...to the stud...

1974 coupes with big bumpers have that extra stiffening brace on each side where the jack mounts (on driver's side), `74 to `76 2002 is the same. Earlier coupes mount the jack as others have pictured, under spare tire panel with a small post near the tail light that accomodates a wing nut.

Pamp's car is a US 1974 model and those trunk interiors are different from the earlier cars.

decission

here is my choice, to install the wheel-nut tool

detail: two pieces of rubber to avoid noises, and two straps to tighten to the spare wheel, and i am happy

problem with the jack, i bought a second hand jack. just it came away from the trunk of a 1974 e9, but look, it is bigger than mine, is this possible ?,

the jack of my car is the small one in the pic, and it fits ok (i wanted to replace it because it was rusty)

how does yours look like ? like the small one or like the big one ?

I have a '72 and it has the small jack - why not restore the jack, if you can rebuild your toolbox you can certainly do this!

final steps and closing !

nicely done, you've inspired me to fix mine! (once I am done with my current project - cleaning/greasing/tightening the front power window units).
