I am not listing this coupe under cars for sale; because I do not have an asking price. I know every one, myself included, want a price. So here are the particulars. Help!

A good buddy is ready to sell his '73 coupe. Here is what I know about it.

He is the original owner. Window sticker and many receipts.
Black over tan leather. Front seats need redone. Rear seats excellent of course.
Wood in fair condition. Nardi wheel. Non-original radio.
AC. Electric Sunroof. Door cards untouched.
Carpets protected by Coco mats.
Always garaged.

One respray in the original black.
Floor pans, rockers replaced 15 years ago.
Shock towers good.
New pads and rotors all around.
Complete tool kit.

Maximum of 150k miles - probably less.
3.3 block with 12k when installed.
Webers.

Maintained to a high level of originality by the same mechanic for over 40 years.
Anything that needed to be done was done immediately.

No accidents. One minor fender bender on rear quarter - less than $500. to fix.

I have a half dozen exterior and two interior photos.
He is sending more of the undercarriage.

If you email me at [email protected] I will send the photos. No clue about loading them here.

He has no idea how to price the car. I am thinking $35-40. Your thoughts.

Jump right in guys.

You didn't mention the transmission: auto, 4-speed, 5-speed?

One minor fender bender on rear quarter - less than $500. to fix.

Meaning the damage remains un-repaired, and will cost the new owner less than $500. to fix? Stuff like that generally discounts the price >> the repair estimate stated by the seller.

3.3 block with 12k when installed.

Yes, but how many miles ago was that?

It is a four speed. The minor damage was repaired immediately. It was many years ago.

OK, well given all that, I'd say that your $35 - 40K range is pretty good. You or your buddy might want to check out Hagerty's valuation guide at: https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1973-BMW-3.0CShttps://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1973-BMW-3.0CS

Hagerty assigns a value of $48.7K to an "excellent" car, and $28.3K to a "good" one. That's an awfully steep drop between "excellent" and "good"! You can decide where on that spectrum this car fits.

As I always say, you can't discuss price independently of how/where the car will be marketed. If your friend lists it on Craigslist for $20K, he will be lucky to get offers over $10K. If he consigns it to one of the Pebble Beach auctions, the bidding may start at $50K, but he will have to give some of that back in commission and transportation expenses.

Pictures go a long way. Nice history.
The way I read your description the fender was fixed and the damage was so minor that $500 was the cost to fix. If it shows well and runs well $50k may be right plus or minus $5k
