Help With Purchasing Tires

I just purchased a set of Coupeking's Alpina wheels for my 1974 Coupe and was wondering if anyone can help me with what size tires would best suit them?

And if you go for fully original classic look, your must are the vredestein sport classic

I bought the Continental Extreme Contacts that fit the coupe king wheels. I can't go look at the sizes, because my car is in the shop, but they were the sizes Peter told me to get. I ordered them from tire rack, and they work great.

I've had good luck with the Dunlop Direzza Startacs. I believe TireRack/Dunlop is offering an $80 rebate until 6/30 also. Actually, they've got a bunch of rebates going on now.

215/55 16 fronts, 225/50 rears should work without rolling fender lips unless you've slammed the suspension

f.w.i.w. 2270011 ran for years on 215/50/16's front and rear and that helped me maximize wear from the soft (for the time) tires ... but my rims were not staggered width

I 2nd the Dunlop Direzza...205/55 & 225/50 on the 16 inch stagger. Good deal and prompt shipping from the Tire Rack. They were mounted to the wheels on a $20 + grand "touchless" machine. The only way to go.

205/55-16 Front and 225/50-16 rear are the traditional sizes used on these wheels.

I've had 225/50s all around on a car with rolled fender lips, but the front tires stick out beyond the fenders and look kind of goofy.

I'm thinking of purchasing a set of 16's BBS basketweaves but they are not staggered. Would you run 205/55 on front and 215/50 on the rear or 215/50 on all? Thank you for input.

If you plan to run 16 X 7 I would go with 205/55 all the way around, 215 would be too wide for the front. If the wheels you plan to buy are BBS RS three piece then you can convert a pair to 8 inch using wider outer lips. I bought all I needed to do this for my wheels through

The wheels are like the ones dang is selling but BBS.Would/could you run 215/50 on rear knowing they are to wide for the front and will they fit on 7" wheel? Thanks

Not sure I would want to do that...the goal being to keep the tire O.D. as close to the same,
front and rear, as possible. The standard on the stagger, as has been posted, closely match the stock 14 inch. The math has been done many times before, yet for drill I would go to the Tire Rack site and make the comparisons for yourself. Your car, your choices. I will say this,
wheels and tires are a hugely personal choice, also that it can get quite expensive to end up where you want to be. That said, this is one of those coupe decisions...you get what you pay for. Check for my post "the lady gets new shoes" In my mind this is a choice that if done to your satisfaction, you only do it once, and worth the extra $$$ I get quite a few complements on my wheels as well as serious offers to sell...no way!
