help

i had my blower motor go out earlier this year. the guys at mesa performance were great at sourcing one at a very reasonable price-

new ones still show up on e-bay from time-to-time

I have found 5 blower motors, I will check them at evening to see if they are in good condition and post pictures.

Price for a good one: 75€ including shipping to UK

3 of 5 are still runing well, here are pics:

Heater Motor

In Texas, heat is not usally something we think of for long periods of the year. But since we're also known for "Blue Northers' which swing temperatures 40 or more degrees sometimes within minutes, I recently had to look at the blower motor which I replaced with a good used unit from a fellow member here a year or so ago.

Looking at Oranger's pitcure, the motor sticks out above the housing with the fan below. On each side of the motor , on top, and each side are small rectangular clips. These clips secure the spring tension for the brushes which ride on the armature. For me, I used a set of needle nose pliers gently lifting the brushes by the cable ( braided wire) thereby freeing the brushes from thier 40+ years of remaining in one place. A small screw driver can also help to spread the holder and aid in the freeing process.

Worked for me ( By the way discovered by pressing on those clips with a battery charger hooked to the terminals)

It was also discovered that the original motor had a bad solder connection on the heat sink ( turned wire between the lug and the brush). So that's another small job to fix for a working spare.

Perhaps it may work for others.

Best of luck.....
