Ton,

welcome to e9coupe. undoubtedly the best source for e9 coupe information anywhere. and one of the best car forums - period.
it is a nice looking malaga coupe. very pretty color. looks like it has e12 / e23 turbine wheels on it rather than the stock FPS wheels.

i would spend a little time in the FAQ section of the forum, to learn about typical rust locations, what color is painted where, electrical info ... and many more. you will also find a lot of info on the best sources for products. then as you start work, i would document the restoration, in the e9 forum - projects + restoration. you can ask questions and people will help you find answers and options.

cheers
scott

Hoi Ton,

Nice to meet you! Let me know if i can be of assistance, i see you're in the Netherlands too. Ik ook :-)

What is the task you are given with the car? Full resto including rust repairs, a refresh, just geting it running, or something else?

A word of caution; these cars hide rust extremely well. a rusty door isn't so much of a problem; it's just a new skin and some fixes to the frame and it's done. It gets complicated when rust appears above the fusebox, or behind and above the glovebox. If there is rust there, it means rustholes are developping in a part that is 3 layers underneath the front fender. And those layers are part of the front strut tower structure. And they all have to come off to fix it.

This is the state of my car at the moment. The pics show the left front wheel housing, strut support structure and the A-pillar.
I hope yours is better !

Ouch, the pics look like my car's condition behind the glovebox.
And the fusebox pic is out of focus to see the rust sharply, but i see brown, so that's rust, and that comes through from the other side (wheel-strut housing).
Not good unfortunately.
And i see white caulk (kit) and a reasonably fresh A-pillar repair patch.
If only they would have dug one level deeper!

Fyi - you asked how far my car is now: the pics of my car...are from last monday
