I drove halfway across town yesterday to the only station selling ethanol free premium for the (now roadworthy) 2800 CS. As I get out of the car, the fella pumping diesel into his commercial pickup says "I like that car".

"So, you're familiar with BMWs?" I asks.

"No. I'm familiar with THAT car!"

Turns out he knew the PO (I bought the car from his estate) AND he knew the PPO! AND he had a phone number for the guy! What are the odds? So I called Ken, now living in CA, and got the back-back story!

We had a long and enjoyable conversation. I learned the car was originally sold in FL, then brought to WI in 1975. Found out the car had only had 10K miles added between 1980 and present. He's looking for some of his original pix to share. I have a new friend! How cool is that!

answer: Very cool!
My car's PO was not so cool. But, with the help of the receipts and the internet, I found the PPO - a very nice older gentleman. We exchanged a few letters but a couple of years ago I stopped getting replies to the updates I sent to him :(

Wow, that is really cool!
I wished I could find the PPO who rebuilt my 71 2800cs. The only info I have is that my friend purchased it from some guy in southern Cali over 10 years ago.

If anyone wants me to check the old CS Register newsletters from the 80's and 90's for any mentions of PO's just PM your VIN and I will see if anything comes up.

Reading to the end of the obit I see Boyd's brother and sister died before him. And he was only 60. Sad.
