Columbia. No, I did not know him. After that I switched to architecture and have forgotten more than I remember about acoustics (until this thread).

We are overthinking this one. Loud means your neighbors wake up when you come home at 3am. Go test that.
Okay, I just tested the Raven. Stats:
1973 3.0, original engine, but larger cam, piano top pistons, Stahl long tube headers (OPEN - no exhaust past the headers).
Phone/mic 1 meter away from header outlets, using DecibelX app - free version.
At idle (actually a little high at around 1,100 RPM), the average sound pressure level was 112 dB. Louder than I thought...
Letting it roll down to a galloping 6oo RPM (the car is not tuned and it did not like this RPM!), it was closer to 86 dB.
Interestingly, when I revved it up a bit to closer to 2,000 RPM, it topped out at 115 dB, not far off from that 1,100 idle SPL (technically twice the sound intensity or acoustic energy, but not twice the perceived level of sound).
But this was at rest, no load, sitting on dollies. Unfortunately I cannot perform the road test at this time.

But is it the original equipment one or has it been upgraded?
