How much are E9's appreciating/year?

not as much as one with 2 t's and 2 i's ... oh that's right, the one i am thinking of started with a 3 ... that gorgeous Paul Cain rocketship
Soooo if it has two "i's" its worth how much?

Overall numbers may be on the low side, but the trend is correct.

I'd say my 2800 is a #4 car and I got it for $15k 2 mo ago. Add 15% for the sunroof (acc. to Hag) and it's in the ballpark.

The problem is, too many #3 and #2 cars often shows body flaws which will require another $10-20k in body/paint work.

I picked up a copy of the Sept 2011 (#73) issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic Cars today. It has a feature on the 4500-mile Crevier BMW 1974 CSA. At that time, their pricing for E9's by condition was:

Low: $9,000
Average: $15,000
High: $22,000

Wonder if we'll be reminiscing about today's pricing in 2020?

i think they are way off on conditions 1 thru 3. i agree they have made up some ground recently. condition 4 can be all over the map due to rust issues / rust remediation - perhaps 20k to 30k - i don't think a terminal rust bucket would qualify as a condition 4 (in my book - no relation to your coupe Rob - as i have never seen it). condition 2 cars shouldn't really have any flaws to speak of ... only little picky things. too many people thing their condition 3 car is a condition 2.

As Chris Macha has said, condition 1 is rarely achievable / in existence. it would be 100k+ and 70k won't even buy you a documented condition 2.

condition 2 at 49k is a joke ... they rarely put up for sale, and when they do, you are looking at 70k to 90k - depending on the documentation of what has been done.

condition 3 at 28.5k - please. i think they average between 38k to 55k

my 2 cents. i would like to get my condition 3 coupe to a 2 ... not sure i will get it there without significant work not related to rust ... once i get the wood redone, and do the things i'm not going to get done this time i will be on the way.
