Like it says...how much leather is required for an E9? Hides vary greatly, so I guess the question is how many square feet approximately for two front seats, rear seats, and center and left/right arm rests? ...thanks for any help.

for Dave, you know most of what is written below and i know where you are, you can buy leather from wholesalers ... my thought is 3 hides

for other people reading this, it depends on 3 basic things -
1st - the size of the hides. for instance nappa leather / calves leather is about 25sf / hide. regular cow hides can be 45 to 60 sf / hide. most hides average 50 to 55 sf / hide. remember, some parts of the hide include the legs - you pay for every square inch, but these parts aren't very usable ... so don't think of it as a rectangle or something that you can be efficient or rational on how you lay it out. also remember, the edges are often thicker / stiffer.
2nd - it really depends on the consistency of the hide / how many imperfections or holes there are in the hide ... and where they are.
3rd - it definitely depends on what you are planning to do. if you are doing front + rear seats, i would buy 3 hides. if you were doing door panels and other little things, i would buy 5 hides.

keep in mind the price of leather can be anywhere between 10 + 25 bucks / sf ... depending if you are buying it wholesale, retail or from a reseller. so each hide could cost you 500 bucks to 1250 bucks. it also depends on many other things, such as the grade of leather and the finishing of the leather. keep in mind, leather comes in varied thickness, softness, dyeing types, textures ... and finishing. you probably don't want leather finished with wax - the u/v light of sun will do nasty things to it and it will scratch the finish easily ...

i would not look at 'residential' leathers, i would look at aviation or automotive leathers - the finishes will be more u/v stable.

Dave like noted above there’s a lot of variables, with that in mind, I purchased five hides to do the interior of my car…seats/door cards/under dash panels…

Before world upholstery seeming has disappeared, I got 2 hides and matching
Vinyl from them. I am about 25% done on redoing the seats and arm rests etc. I will not be using the leather for the pleated portions of the seats. Using a houndtooth cloth. It does appear I will have more than enough to finish. So if I was to use leather for the seat inserts, I would have gotten 3 full hides. Not cheap, but better too much than to be short and try to match the color and texture. Note does not include the door panels which are ok in my case.
Also if the supplier can provide matching vinyl by all means get some. I used for under the seats around the runners. etc

What is a good source for non-textured vinyl. Do have the manufacturer name of what they sold you. I need to redo driver seat. Thanks

look in the FAQ - top sources thread - post 2 has interior material sources.
I do not have any info to original sources of the material World supplied me
As far as a source for vinyl and upholstery supplies I use a local supply house that sells nationwide and they do provide the source company's origin. So any major supply house should get one samples. Issue of course is getting the match. Here is my locals supplier. Disclaimer I have no stake on the company.

Dave—I took my leather seats apart, piece by piece and made patterns from them so I knew how much leather I needed. IIRC I used one hide per front seat, every inch of it. BTW, I also made patterns out of Naugahyde that I used for practice (I was learning how to sew.) If you have a need for them I can send to you. For a ‘74 CS with horizontal pleats.
