Hi guys
I am looking for some help please.
I have my engine set at TDC and I want to re fit my distributor.
I have read that I should line up the line on the rotor with the line on the distributor ( I think )
I cannot see any line on my rotor though .
Am I missing something ?
Has anyone got some tips or advice please.
Thanks again

After establishing TDC, the next thing I do is pick the best place for the VA can to be, so it's free to move and let me rotate the distributor body. I push the distributor, sans the rotor, in and engage the gears. I hook a test light between the battery positive and the tab on the side of the body. I rotate the body in the direction of the arrow until the light is on, then reverse direction until the light just goes off. This means my points are opening at TDC. I install the rotor and see which of the six poles the rotor is closest to and label this as #1. Then I install the rest of the wires follow the firing order in a clockwise manner. Hook up all the wires. The engine should fire right up and you set your timing with a light.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the info
I could not see the timing line on the rotor earlier, but instead now I will follow your advice.
Thanks again !

There is a small line on the outside edge of the dist body on the edge where the cap fits make sure that your rotor points to that Make sure the H/T leads are in the right order and adj your timing once it starts In your first picture, your rotor is pointing at the line that is how it should look in the car

Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick
Thanks again
That all sounds good to me.
I had the distributor, distributed all over the kitchen table yesterday evening :)
So I am glad now that she is back together now And hopefully going back into the engine tomorrow.
I was glad that I stripped it and cleaned and lubricated everything as I found the centrifugal advance weights were seized up from lying idle.
It’s all sorted now though.
