How to..remove rearbumper rubber..

Taking a rear bumper apart to be able to sell and ship, and don't know the best way to...
(1) get the pointed ends of the rubber out of their slot..assume hot water is involved?
(2) how to remove the attachment "pins"...so small that at first I thought they were nuts, but cant really tell..assume they were factory..? or are they just a press fit? Pictured below at bottom of photo...
Yes I have already removed the black terminator piece (but still shown below)

2) In general these are rivets, so if they have already cutted head from one side - you can just knock them out with nail & hammer. If they are smashed from both sides - then treat them with drill.

I'm trying to get my rear rubber off also. If the rivets are drilled out, how do you attach the rubber again? And how do you get the end pieces out of the chromed metal ends?
I want to take the centerpiece to the plater to have it chrome plated. Thanks, Drew

It is just barely secured. You can peel it off, or slide it off. I’ll show you later.

You will need to mount new metal rails/rubber mounts with new rivets first & then put the rubber on that rails/slide it on.

Peel it back after pulling one of the ends out of the bumper. It fits like a U over that strip.

I published the video that I sent you. This is how the rubber peels away. Much easier to do when you aren’t holding a camera.

Sorry, Drew, but no real cure to my problem. I was ok with the metal strip and that part before, but my issue was more with getting the ends out. Perhaps the warm weather will cure this also. I was really trying to determine if taking the three pieces apart and being able to slide, just a little, would relieve some of the tension to make it less difficult. I'm going to try a hot bath (for the bumper end) to see if that will help...as the man said, "whats the worst thing that can happen?"...

Chris--I now have the rear bumper parts chromed and the metal strips riveted in place. I would assume the chrome bumper needs to be mounted on the car and then the rubber is either slid on from one side or is it clipped on bottom to top or top to bottom across the metal strips? That's how I pulled it off months ago while the rusted metal strips held it on. Markos had a short video of the rubber being pulled off a front bumper corner. Thanks, Drew

Install is reverse of removal, peel it back to open up the channel and work towards each end.

Hi Drew,

I have also done a rear bumper recently.

If me I would put the rubber on first before installing bumper on the car - easier to wrestle the rubber back on and get the ends fed back into the securing V shaped bumper corner holes.

Whilst with rusted old mounting strip the rubber can be easily pulled off, but with a new metal mounting strip rubber needs to be slid back on.

Mal--The restoration shop was able to clip the rubber on the riveted metal strip after the re-chromed bumper was on the car. I have a '73 with the oval bumper supports that stand the bumper off the car's body. (first pic) Here's a pic before the under rider horns are mounted.
